Useful Information

The “Electronic Gate Pass”

In accordance to section 13 of the law regarding entrance to Israel of 1952, an official inspector or police officer can request identification and proof of legal status in Israel. With this in mind, at a press of a button the Border Control station will print a card including the principle details of the traveler as in the first page of the passport. The card will also depict the date of arrival and visa information. This card is called The “Electronic Gate Pass” and it is a new and modern technological system instrumental in meeting the needs of the various Immigration, security, Airport and Tourism authorities as well as providing the tourist with the credentials necessary to prove his visa status. The “Electronic Gate Pass” replaces the system whereby passports were stamped. At the airport, this card allows the traveler to exit the arrival terminal without further delays.

The Gate Pass is an official form of identification while in Israel. We ask all tourists to keep the card at hand at all times as proof of their visa status. At the airport and designated Land Crossings, this card allows the traveler to exit the arrival terminal and continue to the luggage pickup area.

The tourist is asked to keep the card at hand at all times.

Tourist Visas

Many countries have a Visa Waiver Program with Israel, which allows their citizens to visit Israel without a visa arranged in advance. Before embarking on a trip, visitors desiring to stop in Israel on their way to other destinations must check if they need a prearranged tourist visa. The list of countries in the following link specifies from which countries tourists are required to present a prearranged visa.

https://mfa.gov.il/MFA/ConsularServices/Documents/VisaRequirements-Tourists.pdf

All Visa Waiver Program travelers must present a machine-readable passport at the port of entry in order to enter Israel without a prearranged visa; otherwise, a visa is required. This applies to tourists arriving with a passage card from countries with a Waiver Program.

In order to obtain a visa for a “group”:

  • passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months from the date of entry into Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
  • A completed filled form includes all passengers information for a visa to enter Israel

please contact us to obtain it .

  • Payment of the fee

Please note : JV Tours apply the visa  but  we are not responsible about denied visa or any delays in response as Israeli Ministry of Interior issued the visa.

Crossing the Borders

There are 3 Land Border Crossings between Jordan and Palestine/Israel that tourists can pass

And one between Israel and Egypt :

     1. Sheikh Hussein/ Jordan River Crossing:

Located approximately between the Jordanian city Irbid and the Israeli town Beit She’an.

  1. King Hussein/ Allenby Bridge:

Located approximately between Jordan’s capital Amman and Jerusalem. Even though operated by the Israeli authorities, it is the only direct border crossing between the Palestinian Territories and Jordan Bridge.

  1. Wadi Araba / Yitzhak Rabin Crossing:

Located close to the Red Sea, between Aqaba and Eilat. Since it was named only relatively recently “Yitzhak Rabin Crossing”, the crossing point is on the Israeli side often still called by it’s old name – Wadi Arava Crossing.

The Taba Border Crossing also known as the Menachem Begin Crossing is an international border crossing between Taba, Egypt, and Eilat, Israel.

Climate

Israel /Palestine has a wide variety of climatic conditions, caused mainly by the country’s diverse topography. There are two distinct seasons: a cool, rainy winter (October–April) and a dry, hot summer (May–September). Along the coast, sea breezes have a moderating influence in summer, and the Mediterranean beaches are popular

Time

A time change takes place in Israel twice every year, once in the summer and once in winter. In summer, time is GMT + 3, and in winter it is GMT + 2.

Currency in Israel /Palestine

Currency in Israel /Palestine  is called the ‘shekel’. Shekels are abbreviated as either ILS, or more commonly NIS (which stands for New Israeli Shekel).

Shekels are the best currency to use while in Israel/Palestine but sure, hotels, restaurants, guides and even taxi drivers accept payment in foreign currency, usually in dollars or Euro.

Where to Exchange Your Money

You can find currency exchange stores all over the cities and they usually are open much later than banks. The banks usually charge the highest commission but give a fair rate.

Electricity

Voltage in Israel is equivalent to the European standard, 220v 50Hz, with three-prong outlets. For American appliances an electrical transformer is needed, and it can be obtained in Israel.
