Jericho

Overview

Jericho is the world’s longest continuously inhabited city and the world’s lowest-lying city. Jericho certainly has a great reputation – such a vibrant and dynamic city is so spectacular.
Nestled in an oasis in the middle of a hot, arid desert, this ancient city offers its visitors many curious attractions. But beware, Jericho can also feel like the hottest place on Earth, as it sits 900 feet (274.02 meters) below sea level and has its own microclimate.
Jericho is located just 10 kilometers east of Jerusalem, very close to the Dead Sea. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Palestine, with restaurants, hotels and facilities to match.

What To Do ?

Jericho has many wonderful attractions that offer visitors a place to feel safe and comfortable in this peaceful but somewhat seedy city. The best place to start your tour of the “Oldest City in the World” is at the Tourist Office in the central square, where the helpful staff will provide you with a map showing the main destinations.
